Our story
A technician who kept watching the same problem happen twice.
Aubrey Thoede was cleaning carpet in Houston in the 1980s when he noticed something that should not have been true. A carpet he had just cleaned would look gray again inside a fortnight, faster than before anyone touched it. That observation is the reason Dirt Free Carpet exists, and it is still the whole pitch.
The record
What is actually on file about Dirt Free Carpet.
We would rather point at what a stranger can check than write a longer story than the facts need. This is the short version, and every line of it holds up.
He worked out what the industry was doing wrong.
Every carpet he cleaned with the standard detergent came back dirty faster than it had been before. He traced it to the detergent itself, which does not fully rinse out and leaves the fiber sticky.
He spent about two years building something else.
An organic cleaning compound with no soap and no detergent in it, developed through his own trial and error rather than bought from a supplier.
He patented it, and put it on one truck.
Dirt Free Carpetstarted trading in Houston in 1989. It is not sold to other cleaners. It only runs through this company’s own trucks.
He has kept proving it since. Family owned, still.
Dirt Free Carpet has run out of 1308 Upland Dr in Houston since 1989, cleaning carpet, tile, upholstery and stone across the city. Read what that cleaner actually is on the carpet cleaning page.
The proof he keeps giving
He drinks the cleaner on live Houston television.
Not once. Aubrey has appeared on Houston Life on KPRC 2 twice, on 20 February 2017 and again on 17 September 2018, and on KHOU 11’s Great Day Houston. On each appearance he demonstrates the cleaner and drinks it, to show what is not in it. These were sponsored segments, and they are real television appearances. We are not calling them awards, because they are not, and we do not need to.
It is a strange way to make a sales pitch and that is exactly why it works. A company can print any number it likes. A man cannot fake drinking something on camera more than once and get away with it if it were actually dangerous.
Muted footage of the cleaner in use. The story behind it is above, in his own words, verified against Houston Life and KHOU’s own coverage.
Thirty-seven years later, the test spot is still free.
Every job since 1989 has started the same way: a free test spot in your worst room, before you owe anything. See what two of our Houston neighbors actually wrote about it on our reviews page, or go straight to contact and service area.
